Neurodivergent Children

How I can help...
- Reducing stress and anxiety. Neurodivergent children often experience anxiety and dysregulation simply from having to navigate a world and education system designed for neurotypical children. This causes enormous pressure on the child and the family.
- Strategies for coping with meltdowns. Autistic meltdowns are not 'tantrums' or 'behaviour' in the traditional sense of the word, and they need an individualised approach that works for the child..
- Sensory aware strategies. Many autistic and ADHD children have sensory differences and it is essential any support needs are put in place in a way that is mindful of the way the child experiences the world through their vestibular, proprioceptive and interoceptive senses.
- Guidance on play, communication and social preferences. Autistic children often have specific ways of communicating, playing and interacting in a social space. My approach is not to require them to conform to neurotypical ways of being, but to enable them to be authentic to their neurotype so they can experience more a greater sense of self-regard.
- Strategies for PDA and pressure sensitivity. Pressure sensitivity and challenges with 'demands' can be incredibly alarming for children and difficult for families and teachers to know how best to provide support.Using the right strategies can make all the difference in the world.

How I Work
Children's behaviour and communication tells us a great deal about what they are experiencing and what they need us to do differently to support them.
I offer training, consultancy and support to families and professionals. This is rooted in bringing the autistic voice to conversations about a child's support needs. This creates a sense of belonging for children and their families.
My lived experience of being autistic, parenting an autistic child as as well as working with neurodivergent children for many years brings depth, insight and real life, in context understanding to the conversation.
