Keys to Behaviour: How to Teach Ourselves to Stay Regulated

Keys to Behaviour: How to Teach Ourselves to Stay Regulated

We can have all the knowledge in the world, but without the means to stay regulated ourselves, responding to children’s behaviour will remain a challenge.

You will learn strategies for learning how to stay regulated so that we can support children.

Please note: this course looks at how we can regulate ourselves. In order to do this, our working environment needs to be supportive of this process. The ability to regulate is not just about the individual. It is therefore important that managers, deputies and owners, (those with the ability to make a difference to the working environment) take this course prior to enrolling their staff members onto it.

This course will explore:

  • The knowledge that helps us understand behaviour
  • The values & pre-conceived ideas we hold about behaviour
  • The role of our own stress responses
  • Mental models we create as teachers and practitioners
  • Staff well-being: the role of connection in the workplace
  • How self-compassion helps us respond to behaviour
  • The difference between a regulated adult and a calm adult
  • The role of supervision in enabling adults to stay regulated
